Advanced Painting Tutorial with Airbrush and Brush: Detailed Guide by Ángel Giraldez

At the inauguration of our blog, we are pleased to present a compilation of fascinating tutorials, among which the valuable contribution of Ángel Giraldez in Bite The Bullet stands out. In this must-see video, Giraldez opens the doors of his studio to meticulously break down a detailed guide to the technique he uses daily in his painting projects: the combination of airbrush and brush.

This tutorial is not only advanced, but also requires practice, effort, and dedication. However, thanks to the steps meticulously explained in the video, followers will be able to follow every detail precisely to apply it to their own thumbnails. For this occasion, Ángel will use one of our most recognized figures, available to purchase here.

The selected character is a powerful human magician on whom a base coat and the first highlights will be applied using the airbrush. This technique focuses primarily on the most prominent components of the miniature, such as the toga in this particular case. However, in other figures, this approach can be directed towards other clothing items, armor, gems and even body parts (if you are one of those who enjoy the more futuristic theme)

The smaller components will receive an initial treatment with a brush, subsequently allowing a more uniform finish and enhancement with the airbrush. In addition, an additional touch of light will be applied to provide greater realism to the set. This will help us distinguish them more easily, since being a 35mm scale figure, some of the smaller details will need extra work so that they do not get lost among the other elements of the miniature.

It is essential not to neglect details, such as profiles and highlights (especially in gold parts and crystals), to add depth and highlight to the different elements of the miniature. These effects will be achieved using the brush, as demonstrated in the tutorial.

And don't worry about anything, the video clearly explains the colors that have been used, so if you don't have them, you can always look for the one that most resembles it within your collection (thanks Ángel)
